Novel method for the synthesis of 1,3,5-triarylbenzenes from ketones

Treatment of aryl ketones with p-toluenesulfinic acid and a catalytic amount of tin tetrachloride anhydrous (5%) in 1-pentanol gives good yields of 1,3,5-triarylbenzenes.
