The commercial macroreticular cation exchanger resin Lewatit K2621/H+ and two gel-type resins bearing -SO3H and -SMe functionalities are used to produce two acidic Pd(O)/resin(H+) and one non-acidic Pd(0)-Au(0)/resin catalysts that are tested in the direct synthesis of H2O2 in methanol/ water (2.5:1) at -10 degrees C and moderate H-2 and O-2 pressures. Molar yields in H2O2 after 1.5 hours, range from 12.9% [Pd(O)-Au(O)/resin] to 46% [Pd(O)/ K2621/H+].
