The temperature characteristics of recycled hot mix asphalt mixtures were studied through viscosity-temperature dependency of asphalt binders and temperature storage stability of blended mixtures. The viscosity-temperature dependency was investigated, providing fundamental information on temperature control such as determination of mixing temperature and compaction temperature. The characteristics of temperature storage stability would be greatly influenced by the preheated temperatures of various components in actual mixtures. Therefore, there could be a wide range of ultimate temperatures of blended mixtures. The results showed that the optimization control of recycled hot mix asphalt mixture could lead to good theological properties of asphalt binders containing recycled and fresh asphalt binders. The optimum control of actual mixing temperature can be realized by adjusting the temperatures of the in-material components to meet the requirements of the optimum temperature range, which is determined by the viscosity-temperature curve.
