Cancer Stem Cells Activate STAT3 the EZ Way

Activated STAT3 and increased expression of the histone nnethyltransferase EZH2 are independently associated with the most malignant subset of gliomas. In this issue of Cancer Cell, Kim and colleagues discover that EZH2 enhances STAT3 activation by trimethylating lysine180 in STAT3 and does so preferentially in glioma stem-like cells.
