On the relation between the drag and the vorticity produced on a clean bubble

In this Brief Communication, the vorticity produced by a clean bubble rising in a quiescent liquid is considered. More precisely, a simple relation between the drag of a bubble and the vorticity generated at its surface is proposed. The analysis is based on direct numerical simulations and on asymptotic analytical solutions.
