The Ketogenic Diet for the Treatment of Myoclonic Astatic Epilepsy in a Child with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus

Initiation of the ketogenic diet in a child with epilepsy and type 1 diabetes mellitus presents a challenge because the distinction between diet-induced ketosis and diabetic ketoacidosis is difficult to discern. We report the successful use of the ketogenic diet in a child with myoclonic astatic epilepsy and type 1 diabetes. (C) 2014 Canadian Diabetes Association
