Based on the enterprise paradigm of organised crime, this article outlines how value configuration analysis might be applied to criminal organisations. Distinctions are made between value chains, value shops and value networks. In the value chain, police can follow flows of goods. In the value shop, police can follow knowledge work. In the value network, police can follow connections between actors. Based on this contingent approach to law enforcement, senior investigating officers might need to provide officers and analysts with frameworks such as value configurations to organise their material and evidence when fighting organised crime.
