This paper indicates the context of the lifelong learning process of police officers in Poland, including the need to adapt to changing social conditions. Systematic participation in the improvement process becomes crucial in order to increase police officers' vocational qualifications, improve their effectiveness while performing tasks, improve professionalism, productivity and most importantly ensure social security. A pilot study conducted in 2007 on a group of 35 randomly assigned officers from the Higher Police School in Szczytno is reported.
