The crystal of 1,2-bis (ethoxycarbonyl) hydrazine was synthesized by the reaction of hydrazine hydrate and ethyl chloroformate. Its crystallographic structure was characterized using XRD, FTIR and Raman spectroscopy. The antibacterial activities of the compound against the two bacteria- Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, were investigated. Based on experimental results, the ground-state geometries were optimized using density-functional theory (DFT) at B3LYP/6-31G (d, p) without symmetry constrains, and the vibrational wavenumbers were calculated at the same level.
