Bistability, Remanence, Read/Write-Memory, and Logic Gate Function via a Stimuli-Responsive Polymer

Joanna Michalska-Walkowiak et al.

Summary: Research shows that the hysteresis of thermally responsive polymers can enable bistable information storage, write and read, by switching states through heat or pH values. At the same time, hiding information also becomes possible.

Effects of alignment activity on the collapse kinetics of a flexible polymer

Subhajit Paul et al.

Summary: The dynamics of active polymer chains are different from passive ones, with different pathways to reach the final state and the formation of elongated structures. The collapse time also shows a nonmonotonic dependence on the strength of active interaction.

Identification of the New Type of G-Quadruplex with Multiple Vacant Sites in Human Telomeric DNA

Xiaonong Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the folding mechanism of tandem G-quadruplexes in human telomeric DNA. A novel G-quadruplex with multiple vacant sites was found, and a two-step process was proposed for the folding of long telomere G-strands.

Hydrogen Bonding Sequence Directed Coil-Globule Transition in Water Soluble Thermoresponsive Polymers

Rasika Dahanayake et al.

Summary: The coil-globule transition in water-soluble thermoresponsive polymers used in nanomaterials is driven by the temperature-induced increase in the sequence length of monomers not hydrogen bonded to water. Longer chains statistically exhibit longer sequences which serve as nucleation sites for hydrophobic cluster formation, facilitating chain collapse at lower temperature in agreement with experimental data.

Force-Dependent Interactions between Talin and Full-Length Vinculin

Yinan Wang et al.

Summary: This study quantifies the kinetics of force-dependent talin-vinculin interactions and reveals a new regulatory mechanism in which mechanically exposed VBS binds vinculin more tightly. Molecular dynamics simulations provide insight into the force-dependent conformational changes in the VBS that modulate binding. Overall, the interplay between force and autoinhibition adds complexity to the major mechanosensing axis involving talin and vinculin.
