Unsupervised fitting of emission lines generated from laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy

Ebo Ewusi-Annan et al.

Summary: This research addresses a bottleneck in processing large amounts of LIBS data by automating the fitting of emission lines in a typical LIBS spectrum. By utilizing the second derivative of the spectrum and a divide and conquer approach, the study successfully fitted 625 lines in a Martian ChemCam spectrum.

The effect of reaction temperature on structural, optical and electrical properties of tunable ZnO nanoparticles synthesized by hydrothermal method

Mohamed M. ElFaham et al.

Summary: In this study, ZnO nanoparticles of different particle sizes were synthesized using the hydrothermal method by varying the autoclave reaction temperature from 100 degrees C to 200 degrees C. The results showed that the crystallinity of the ZnO nanoparticles increased and their particle sizes also increased with the increase of reaction temperature.

Role of laser fluence on ionic emission characteristics from steel plasmas induced in atmospheric air

Mohamed A. Khater et al.

Summary: This study investigates the spatially-integrated spectral emission measurements of singly-ionized species excited in laser-generated steel plasmas in air at atmospheric pressure via LIBS. The behavior of emission parameters of selected ionic spectral lines, such as signal intensities, background intensities, signal-to-background and signal-to-noise ratios, are followed while varying the incident effective laser energy fluence. The findings show that signal intensities exhibit a monotonic increase with laser fluence, while signal-to-noise ratios exhibit anomalous behavior with two distinctive maxima.
