Mechanical and microstructural properties of recycling granite residual soil reinforced with glass fiber and liquid-modified polyvinyl alcohol polymer

Bingxiang Yuan et al.

Summary: In this study, SEM and drop-weight tests were used to investigate the reinforcing effect of glass fiber and SH Polymer on granite residual soil. The results showed that the particles were tightly bonded and formed a bonding system with glass fiber. Additionally, the impact resistance reached its maximum when the glass fiber content was 3.0%.

Intelligent assistant driving method for tunnel boring machine based on big data

Dong Guo et al.

Summary: This study proposed an assisted driving method for Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) to help drivers determine suitable driving parameters in advance, taking into account both construction safety and efficiency through models and deep learning. The method can predict the required tunneling parameters and adjust them automatically for different rock grades and drivability classes.

Advanced prediction of tunnel boring machine performance based on big data

Jinhui Li et al.

Summary: A machine learning model was developed to predict the TBM performance in real-time using big data obtained from a tunnel project in China, showing superior performance compared to classical theoretical models. Filtering unnecessary parameters was proposed to enhance accuracy and computational efficiency. The study also discussed the impact of data deficiency on model accuracy and suggested supplementing highly correlated parameters to improve prediction.

Sensitivity of Multistage Fill Slope Based on Finite Element Model

Bingxiang Yuan et al.

Summary: The study focused on the changing positions of the sliding surface and the impact of reinforcement on the stability of multistage fill slopes. Sensitivity analysis revealed that unit weight, slope ratio, and grade height have a negative correlation with safety factor, while platform width, cohesion, and internal friction angle have a positive correlation.

Coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical mechanism in view of the soil particle rearrangement of granular thermodynamics

Bing Bai et al.

Summary: This paper established a coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical mechanism for saturated/unsaturated soils considering soil particle rearrangement, reflecting the effects of loading path and soil structure through an elastic potential energy density function. The derived generalized effective stress principle automatically considers the impact of stress path, temperature path, and soil structure, covering the complete process from unsaturated to saturated soils.

Cotransport of heavy metals and SiO2 particles at different temperatures by seepage

Bing Bai et al.

Summary: The study found that temperature and Darcy velocity have negligible effects on the individual transport of heavy metals, with a higher recovery ratio for Cd2+ over Pb2+. The presence of SiO2 suspended particles can enhance the transport of heavy metals due to strong adsorption, but this effect decreases with the size of the SiO2 particles.
