Vertically Aligned Micropillar Arrays Coated with a Conductive Polymer for Advanced Pseudocapacitance Energy Storage

Summary: With the development of high-performance supercapacitors, a conductive polymer (CP)-based pseudocapacitance electrode has shown promising applications. By fabricating CP-coated vertically aligned micropillar array (MPA) electrode, this study demonstrates the advantages of enhanced areal specific capacitance, rapid channels for ion diffusion and electron transfer, and enhanced electric field intensity. The assembled asymmetric supercapacitor using this CP-based MPA electrode exhibits high energy density and excellent cycling stability.

FeSe and Fe3Se4 encapsulated in mesoporous carbon for flexible solid-state supercapacitor

Summary: Metal selenides, particularly FeSe@C and Fe3Se4@C, were synthesized using a simple strategy that involved the use of a Se-contained MOF gel template. The resulting structures exhibited rich mesopores and excellent carbon-encapsulation, leading to improved electrode kinetics, charge/ion-transfer resistance, and electrochemical stability. These selenides showed significant capacitances and excellent cycling properties, making them promising candidates for energy storage applications, especially in flexible solid-state symmetric supercapacitors.
