Effect of Cu on the strengthening and embrittling of an FeCoNiCr-xCu HEA

Chengchao Du et al.

Summary: The effect of Cu concentration on the microstructure and mechanical properties of FeCoNiCr-xCu HEAs was studied. Low Cu concentrations contributed to solid solution strengthening, while higher concentrations led to the precipitation of nano Cu-rich particles which increased strength. However, excessive Cu concentration resulted in the formation of a weak continuous Cu-rich phase, leading to decreased strength and elongation.

Summary: FeCoCrNiMoSix high-entropy alloys were successfully fabricated by spark plasma sintering, and their microstructure, tribological properties, oxidation behaviors, and corrosion resistance were systematically investigated. The increase in Si content resulted in improved wear resistance and oxidation resistance of the alloys, with FeCoCrNiMoSi1.5 showing the best corrosion resistance performance.

Summary: In this study, the cyclic oxidation and electrochemical corrosion behaviors of CoCrFeNiAlx high entropy alloys produced by resistance sintering were investigated. The results showed that increasing the Al content can enhance the cyclic oxidation resistance of the HEAs but also decrease their corrosion resistance in acid and saltwater environments.

Microstructure, wear and oxidation behavior of AlCrFeNiX (X = Cu, Si, Co) high entropy alloys produced by powder metallurgy

Azmi Erdogan et al.

Summary: AlCrFeNiX (X = Cu, Si, Co) high entropy alloys (HEAs) were produced by mechanical alloying and sintering, and their microstructure, hardness, wear, and high-temperature oxidation behavior were investigated. The study found that different X elements affected the phase composition and hardness of the alloys, with the highest hardness value observed in the alloy containing Si and the best wear resistance and lowest friction coefficient in the AlCrFeNiSi alloy. Overall, HEAs exhibited good oxidation resistance under the test conditions.

High-Temperature Oxidation of High-Entropic Alloys: A Review

Sergey Veselkov et al.

Summary: In recent years, interest in high-entropic alloys has been growing, but few review articles have presented results accumulated over several years, making it difficult to choose directions for further research. This review provides insights into the mechanisms of high-temperature oxidation of HEAs, offering new directions for the development of heat-resistant alloys.

Influence of alloying elements (Cu, Ti, Nb) on the microstructure and corrosion behaviour of AlCrFeNi-based high entropy alloys exposed to oxygen-containing molten Pb

Hao Shi et al.

Summary: Corrosion tests in oxygen-containing molten Pb at 600 degrees C indicated that Cu or Ti additions degrade the corrosion resistance of HEAs, while Nb addition showed promising corrosion behavior. After long exposure, all three alloys experienced phase transformations, resulting in the identification of new phases.

Summary: In this study, the effect of copper coated particles on the properties of CoCrFeNi and AlCoCrFeNi high entropy alloys was investigated. The results showed that an increase in nano copper content led to higher density and wear rate, while hardness and corrosion resistance decreased gradually.
