Fermi surface transformation at the pseudogap critical point of a cuprate superconductor

Yawen Fang et al.

Summary: The nature of the pseudogap phase in cuprate high-temperature superconductors remains a major puzzle, especially regarding the topology of its Fermi surface. Angle-dependent magnetoresistance (ADMR) data suggests that within the pseudogap phase, the Fermi surface undergoes a transformation consistent with the presence of small nodal hole pockets. This indicates a change in the form of the Fermi surface when the pseudogap is present, potentially explaining the low carrier density in this regime.

Inverse Laplace transformation analysis of stretched exponential relaxation

H. Choi et al.

Summary: The effectiveness of the Inverse Laplace Transform (ILT) analysis method in extracting relaxation rate distributions for stretched exponential relaxation was investigated. The ILT accurately captures distributions for certain stretching exponents and signal to noise ratios, but may introduce artificial oscillatory components. The theoretical expression for spin I = 1/2 accurately captures relaxation rate distributions for spins with I > 1/2.

Reduced Hall carrier density in the overdoped strange metal regime of cuprate superconductors

Carsten Putzke et al.

Summary: Study of the high-field Hall coefficient in thallium- and bismuth-based single-layer cuprates reveals a smooth evolution of this quantity from p to 1 + p over a wide doping range. The evolution of n(H) correlates with the emergence of the anomalous linear-in-temperature term in the low-temperature in-plane resistivity, suggesting that quasiparticle decoherence may extend to dopings well beyond the pseudogap regime.

Microscopic evolution of doped Mott insulators from polaronic metal to Fermi liquid

Joannis Koepsell et al.

Summary: The research reveals the competition between antiferromagnetism and hole motion in two-dimensional Mott insulators, as well as the transition from an anomalous metal to a conventional Fermi liquid with varying doping levels. Using a cold-atom quantum simulator, the transformation of multipoint correlations between spins and holes is observed to change with increasing doping, with the crossover completed around 30% hole doping. This work provides insights into theoretical approaches and potential connections to lower-temperature phenomena.

Quantum Phase Transition at Nonzero Doping in a Random t-J Model

Henry Shackleton et al.

Summary: Research results show that in the t-J model, random all-to-all hopping and exchange interactions can capture strong local correlations while avoiding lattice space group symmetry breaking. As doping increases, the system transitions from a spin glass ordered phase to a metallic spin glass phase, with various physical parameters exhibiting signs of this phase transition near the critical doping level.

Charge density waves in cuprate superconductors beyond the critical doping

H. Miao et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that CDW correlations in La2-xSrxCuO4 persist up to a doping of at least x=0.21, with strong changes through the superconducting transition. Despite changes in Fermi surface topology and electronic transport at the critical doping value of x(c)approximate to 0.19, there is no obvious discontinuity, prompting a reconsideration of the role of CDW correlations in the high-temperature cuprate phase diagram.

Normal state specific heat in the cuprate superconductors La2-xSrxCuO4 and Bi2+ySr2-x-yLaxCuO6+δ near the critical point of the pseudogap phase

C. Girod et al.

Summary: The specific heat C of cuprate superconductors La2-xSrxCuO4 and Bi2+ySr2-x-yLaxCuO6+delta was measured near the critical doping p(star), showing that at lower dopings, C-e/T values are larger, indicating the presence of quantum criticality. Additionally, the electronic specific heat in these materials exhibits a logarithmic dependence on temperature, further supporting the existence of a pseudogap critical point.

Parallel spin stripes and their coexistence with superconducting ground states at optimal and high doping in La1.6-xNd0.4SrxCuO4

Qianli Ma et al.

Summary: Commensurate long-range magnetic order in La2CuO4 transforms into quasi-two-dimensional, incommensurate correlations upon doping with mobile holes, leading to superconductivity at x as small as 0.05 in the La2-xSrx/BaxCuO4 family of superconductors. Elastic and inelastic neutron scattering measurements on La1.6-xNd0.4SrxCuO4 single crystals with various doping levels show the presence of two-dimensional, quasistatic parallel spin stripes which extend beyond the proposed quantum critical point pt and envelop the entirety of the superconducting ground states in this system. Additionally, an inflection point at superconducting Tc is observed in the elastic order parameter for parallel spin stripes at optimal doping x = 0.19, while the low-energy dynamic spectral weight of parallel stripe fluctuations increases with decreasing temperature and saturates below Tc.

High magnetic field ultrasound study of spin freezing in La1.88Sr0.12CuO4

Summary: The study reveals a coupling between the lattice and spin glass in lanthanum-based cuprates at specific doping levels, leading to anomalies in sound velocity and attenuation. This suggests a strong competition between superconductivity and spin freezing, which can be tuned by the magnetic field.

Observation of cyclotron resonance and measurement of the hole mass in optimally doped La2-xSrxCuO4

Summary: Using time-domain terahertz spectroscopy in pulsed magnetic fields up to 31 T, the study measured the terahertz optical conductivity in an optimally doped thin film of the high-temperature superconducting cuprate La1.84Sr0.16CuO4, revealing systematic changes in the circularly polarized complex optical conductivity consistent with cyclotron absorption of p-type charge carriers. This opens up opportunities for investigating the influence of electron-electron interactions on carrier masses in cuprate superconductors.
