Multi-objective two-stage adaptive robust planning method for an integrated energy system considering load uncertainty

Rujing Yan et al.

Summary: An integrated energy system (IES) is considered effective in reducing carbon emissions, lowering energy supply costs, and increasing system flexibility. A planning method integrating various methods is proposed to address challenging issues in selecting device types and determining their capacity size under load uncertainty. The method is implemented in an industrial park to study the impact of load budget uncertainty, annual load growth rate, and energy purchase price.

Sustainability analysis for the design of distributed energy systems: A multi-objective optimization approach

Juan D. Fonseca et al.

Summary: This study investigates the conceptual design of distributed energy systems through a multi-objective optimization strategy to address economic, environmental, and social aspects simultaneously. Using single-objective optimization problems and a framework including multiple sustainability indicators, a comprehensive analysis was conducted to identify trade-offs among different objectives and explore changes in design and operating conditions. Results showed ranges of energy cost, CO2 emissions, and water consumption, depending on the evaluated objectives, and suggestions for improving the safety of the energy system were made.
