A selectivity-enhanced ratiometric fluorescence imprinted sensor based on synergistic effect of covalent and non-covalent recognition units for ultrasensitive detection of ribavirin

Xuelian Hu et al.

Summary: The development of methods for detecting trace ribavirin (RBV) with high selectivity and sensitivity is crucial for environmental protection and food safety. In this study, a ratiometric fluorescence sensing platform (BA-LMOFs@MIP) was constructed using boric acid-functionalized lanthanide metal-organic framework (BA-LMOFs) and molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP), which exhibited superior selectivity and efficiency in detecting RBV. The sensor showed a wide linear range for RBV detection and a low detection limit, making it a promising candidate for monitoring RBV in complex systems.

Combined Electrochemical, Ellipsometric and Microgravimetric Study of Ion Permeable Polydopamine Films

Luis C. Almeida et al.

Summary: The facile deposition of polydopamine and its adhesive properties make it widely used in the biomedical field. However, these films are heterogeneous, poorly conductive and impermeable to small molecules and ions. In this study, thicker and more permeable polydopamine films were prepared on gold by potentiodynamic growth at a higher anodic potential limit. The abrupt change in mass increment during electropolymerization was related to the temporary and local loss of polymer adherence to the surface and the subsequent creation of a very porous layer. Films prepared with 100 cycles showed increased thickness, electroactivity and permeability to ionic species, demonstrating their potential as adhesive matrices in electrochemical transduction devices.

A novel ultrasensitive biosensor based on NiCo-MOF nanostructure and confined to flexible carbon nanofibers with high-surface skeleton to rapidly detect Helicobacter pylori

Masoumeh Sarabaegi et al.

Summary: A specific and sensitive aptasensor for Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) was designed using a modified electrode with a nano-sized bimetallic NiCo-metal-organic frameworks nanostructure (NiCo-MOF@C) as platform. Due to hydrogen bonds, a large amount of aptamer strands could bind to NiCo-MOF@C, resulting in a detection limit of 1 CFU.ml-1 and a linear range of 101-107 CFU.ml-1. The proposed aptamer-based biosensor showed specificity, low detection limit, extended linear detection range, and stability for H. pylori.

Summary: In this study, Schiff base derivatives of pregabalin were complexed with zinc and copper, characterized by spectroscopic techniques and biological assays. Two complexes with favorable binding interactions were identified and further examined for their in-vitro anti-inflammatory and anticancer activities. The results showed that one complex exhibited potent anti-inflammatory activity against oxidative burst assay, while another complex displayed strong antiproliferative activity against HeLa cell lines. Computational studies indicated significant interactions of one compound at various receptors.
