The velocity distribution of the known periodic comets with perihelion distances less than 1 au is compared with the velocity distribution of the stream meteoroids observed from Earth. The distributions are reasonably similar. The fact that meteor magnitude and electron line density are dependent on impact velocity seems to be more than counterbalanced by the meteoroid spatial density being proportional to the inverse of the orbital period of the meteoroids and their parent comet.
