The cenospheres produced in a coal-burning power plant have been characterized and the manufacture of lightweight concrete using this residue has been studied. Different concrete specimens were manufactured using powder-packing theory in order to obtain concrete with the lowest possible density. Several tests related to different properties like density, porosity, thermal conductivity, freezing and acoustic behavior were subsequently carried out and different equations that relate certain properties to others are formulated. The dependence between density and resistance to flexion or compression, the relationships between thermal conductivity and density and also between conductivity and resistance were carried out.
