Water-soluble gold nanoparticles (3.2 nm diameter) capped with thiolated gamma-cyclodextrin hosts form large network aggregates (similar to300 nm) in the presence of C-60 fullerene molecules. This aggregation phenomenon is driven by the formation of inclusion complexes between two cyclodextrins-attached to different nanoparticles-and one molecule of C-60.
