Occurrence of an unusual phosphorylated N-acetyllactosamine in horse colostrum

The colostrum of horses (thoroughbreds) was extracted and fractionated to yield Gal(beta1-4)GlcNAc alpha1-phosphate, which has not previously been detected in any mammalian milk or colostrum, as well as Neu5Ac(alpha2-3)Gal(beta1 -4)Glc.
