The stereospecific trifluoromethylation of α-iodo-α,β-unsaturated esters:: a novel synthesis of (Z)-α-trifluoromethyl-α,β-unsaturated esters

This paper describes simple and successful methods for the preparation of alpha -iodo-alpha,beta -unsaturated esters. The trifluoromethylation of (Z)alpha -iodo-alpha,beta -unsaturated esters stereo-selectively provides (Z)-alpha -trifluoromethyl-alpha,beta -unsaturated esters. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V.
