Experimentally verified nonlinear finite element modeling techniques are applied to the study of the structural ductility developed in high-performance steel I-shaped beams subjected to a constant moment loading. It is observed that current notions of cross-sectional compactness and compression-flange bracing limitations may not be directly applicable to these types of high-performance steel flexural members. It is also noticed that differences in material properties between these newer high-performance steel grades can have a significant influence on observed flexural ductility.
