Infrared and birefringence measurements are used to characterize the orientational behavior of fumed silica and mica hybrid-reinforced poly(dimethylsiloxane) composites. Results of equilibrium stress-strain and swelling experiments are also reported and correlated with the orientational data. (C) John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
