Critical behaviour of some perovskites and pyrochlores: what's unusual and what's not

The results of probing the critical behaviour of several doped perovskites and pyrochlores using two unconventional measuring techniques - the field and temperature-dependent ac susceptibility and the spontaneous resistive anisotropy - are reviewed.
