Filtering pathfinder AVHRR land NDVI data for Australia

The Pathfinder AVHRR Land (PAL) dataset is a consistently processed 13-year time series derived from AVHRR global area coverage (GAC) data. We found significant cloud contamination and other noise present in the PAL dataset that diminished its utility. This Letter describes a simple and successful attempt to reduce these effects.
