Total synthesis of (±)-cocculolidine

A non-aromatic erythrina alkaloid, cocculolidine (1), which has insecticidal activity, was synthesized efficiently employing coupling reaction of imine with tetronic acid and intramolecular 1,6-addition as the key steps. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
