The triruthenium hexahydride complex [{(eta (5)-C5Me5)Ru}(3)(mu -H)(6)](BF4) reacted with NaBH3X (X = H, CN) to yield the novel trinuclear mu (3)-borylene complex {(eta (5)-C5Me5)Ru}(3)(mu -H)(3)(mu (3)-BX), and the mu (3)-BH derivative was converted into a mu (3)-B(OR) analogue (R = Me, Et) upon treatment with MeOH and EtOH, respectively. In the reaction of the mu (3)-BH analogue with benzothiophene, a mu (3)-thiaruthenacyclohexadiene complex formed via carbon-sulfur bond cleavage was isolated, and its structure was determined by an X-ray diffraction study.
