Alloy catalysts: the concepts

In this review basic concepts are discussed which in last 30 years formed the background of the research on alloy catalysts. An attempt is made to describe the present state of understanding of the real and potential effects induced by alloying metals. A brief discussion is also devoted to the quantum theory of alloys, practical applications and speculations about the future developments in catalysis by alloys. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V.
