Industrial applications of magnetohydrodynamics at the University of Bologna

Many aspects of magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) have been studied at the Department of Electrical Engineering of the University of Bologna (MHD power generators, plasmadynamics in a Tokamak machine, superconducting magnetic separators, arc discharge in circuit breakers, meniscus shaping in casting machines). The recent activities developed with the aim to analyze different electric power applications of MHD Sciences, are reported in the paper. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
