Reaction of the trisilylmethane derivative HC(SiMe2Br)(3) with three molar equivalents of (S)-1-(1-naphthyl)ethylamine gave the corresponding triamine HC{SiMe2NH[(S)-1-(1-naphthyl)ethyl]}(3) (1) which in solution undergoes partial dissociation to give HC{SiMe2NH((S)-1-(1-naphthyl)ethyl)}{(SiMe2)(2)N((S)-1-(1-naphthyl)ethyl]} (2). Lithiation and subsequent reaction with SnCl2 yielded the solvated lithium triamidostannate [HC{SiMe2N[(S)-1-(1-naphthyl)ethyl]}(3)Sn-Li(thf)(3)] (4). An X-ray diffraction (XRD) study established the molecular structure of the C-3-chiral triamidostannate and a direct Sn-Li contact of 3.06(2) Angstrom. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science Ltd.
