The insertion reactions Of CS2 and phenyl isothiocyanate into the Ln-N bond of lanthanocene diphenylamide were first studied, and the insertion products, viz., [(CH3C5H4)(2) Y(eta(2) - S2CNPh2)](2) .CH3C6H5 (1), [(CH3C5H4)(2)Yb(eta(2) -S2CNPh2)] (2), and {(CH3C5H4)(2)Y-[eta(2)-SC(NPh2)NPh]} (3), were obtained. All the new complexes were characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Both I and 3 have dimeric structure, which have an interlinked tricycle formed via two bridged S atoms, while 2 exists as a monomer.
