Experimental study on synthesis of NiO nano-particles

NiO nano-particles with diameter of 10-15 nm are prepared by air-calcination of Ni(OH)(2) . NiCO3 . xH(2)O precipitated from aqueous solution containing NiCl2, as the nickel source and NH4HCO3 as the precipitation agent. Zeta potential analysis shows that a moderate alkaline (pH < 9) environment is preferential for the dispersion of Ni(OH)(2) . NiCO3 . xH(2)O and NiO nano-particles. (C) 2002 Acta Materialia Inc.
