Suzuki-type C-C forming reaction of phenyl bromide with pherylboronic acid to give biphenyl has been performed for the first time using Pd-containing basic zeolites as heterogeneous catalyst. In toluene as solvent, no Pd leaching was observed and the solids could be reused after water washings with only a minor decrease in the catalytic activity of the zeolite.
