Left ventricular hypertrabeculation/noncompaction and association with additional cardiac abnormalities and neuromuscular disorders

Left ventricular hypertrabeculation/noncompaction in adults is an echocardiographic finding of heterogeneous etiology, frequently associated with malignant arrhythmia and, in most cases, associated with neuromuscular disorders. When performing echocardiography, one should look for left ventricular hypertrabeculation. Patients with this abnormality should be referred to a neurologist and screened for arrhythmias.
