An experimental investigation of the Cr-Ta-C alloys has shown that in the (Cr)+(TaC) two-phase region there are the fold with maximal solidus temperature and the saddle point Cr82.5Ta10C7.5 on the liquidus surface, corresponding to the invariant equilibrium L-e double left right arrow(Cr)+(TaC) at similar to1695degreesC. High temperature Vickers hardness for the eutectic alloy was found to be on high level up to 1000degreesC. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
