A new interpretation of Raman spectra of light, heavy and half-heavy water and some aqueous salt solutions helps to understand peculiarities of structure of liquid water and other hydrogen-bonded systems. Basing on Raman spectral studies, we argue that non-homogeneity of spatial H-bonds network in liquid water is related to furcation of H-bonds. The reason for this is the presence of defects in H-bonds network corresponding to different conformations of fully hydrogen-bonded five-molecule structural units found in liquid water. Our result suggests the importance of water molecules mobility across the defects of the H-bonds network rather than of the vacancies in liquid water structure.
