Effects of statins on C-reactive protein and interleukin-6 (The Ludwigshafen Risk and Cardiovascular Health Study)

This report provides preliminary evidence that statins may lower C-reactive protein levels by interfering with the generation and/or release of C-reactive protein in the liver rather than by modulating inflammatory processes in the vessel wall. (C)2003 by Excerpta Medica, Inc.
