Synthesis of a new conformationally constrained glycoamino acid building block

The synthesis of a suitably protected beta-D-glucopyranosyl-(S)-alpha-methylserine derivative-a new conformationally constrained glycosylated quaternary amino acid analogue of beta-D-glucopyranoSyl-L-serine-is described.
