Reduction of nitroarenes to aromatic amines with nanosized activated metallic iron powder in water

A practical reduction of nitroarenes with nanosize activated metallic iron powder in water at 210 degreesC (near-critical water) has been developed. The reduction generates the corresponding aromatic amines in excellent yields.
