A method to estimate the elastic properties of the extracellular matrix of articular cartilage

In this work we propose a method to estimate the elastic properties of the extracellular matrix of articular cartilage, once the elastic properties of the chondrocytes and the whole tissue are known. The influence of the elastic properties of the tissue and the cell concentration on the estimated elastic properties of the matrix are investigated. (C) 2003 Published by Elsevier Ltd.
