We have synthesized nanostructured, mesoporous, organic-inorganic hybrids Using a Sol-gel procedure by co-condensation of 1,2-(triethoxysilyl)ethane (BTESE) and (3-cyanopropyl)triethoxysilane (3CPS) Under basic conditions, using cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) as a structure-directing agent. After solvent extraction, the resultant materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), nitrogen gas sorption, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), transmission electron microscopy (TFM), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The surface area, pore volume, and unit cell parameters (a(0)) all decreased with increasing 3CPS loading. The choice of reaction variables, Such as base concentration and solvent extraction time, has a significant effect oil the structures and morphologies of the hybrid mesoporous materials. FTIR spectra confirmed that the Si-C bonds are covalently linked in the silica network. Si-29 MAS NMR Spectrum also confirms that the framework of solvent extracted hybrid mesoporous organosilica materials consists of an organic-inorganic covalently bonded network.
