An in situ formed Mg2Si reinforced Al matrix composite synthesized by adding pure Mg into molten hypereutectic Al-Si alloys and modified by K2TiF6 were investigated. The results showed that the sizes of Mg2Si and primary Si particulate decreased from 80 to 30 mum and from 100 to 50 mum, respectively. 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
