Superior d*32 and k*32 coefficients in 0.955Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3-0.045PbTiO3 and 0.92Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3-0.08PbTiO3 single crystals poled along [011]

The elastic, piezoelectric and dielectric constants of [011] poled Y cut length extension bars made of 0.955Pb(Zn1/3Nb1/3)O-3-0.045PbTiO(3) (PZN-4.5%PT) and 0.92Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O-3-0.08PbTiO(3) (PZN-8%PT) single crystals were fabricated and measured. The absolute value of piezoelectric coefficient d(32)* of PZN-8%PT crystal poled along [0 11] reaches as high as 1887 pC/N, which is almost twice as its d(33)(*) value. The electromechanical coupling coefficient k(32)(*) of PZN-4.5%PT and PZN-8%PT crystals poled along [011] are 0.73 and 0.86, respectively, showing great application potential for tiansverse mode sensors, actuators and other electromechanical devices.
