In this paper we consider double split-ring resonators recently suggested and used as inclusions in artificial composites with negative real parts of the permittivity and permeability (Veselago media). In the known literature, the polarization effects in these particles are not completely explained. Here, an analytical model for inclusion polarizabilities is designed, and the polarization effects explained. The results are compared with numerical simulations. The model can be used in optimizing the size and shape of complex inclusions used in the design of novel artificial composites.
