The charge transfer integral (CTI) between monomers in polythiophene is important for the electrical properties of the polymer. Torsional oscillations of the monomers are thought to play a key role in reducing the CTI, but the present study shows that other out-of-plane vibrational modes may play an even more important role between 10(-12) and 10(-14) See timescale on which charge-transfer occurs.
