Delaminated Fe-exchanged Ti-pillared interlayered montmorillonite (Fe-Ti-PILC) was prepared and its catalytic performance as heterogeneous catalyst in wet hydrogen peroxide oxidation of phenol employing microwave irradiation was firstly evaluated. The obtained results indicated that the application of the catalyst allows a comparatively high removal of COD and a total elimination of phenol under mild conditions, without obvious leaching of iron species. The introduction of microwave irradiation could greatly shorten the reaction time. (C) 2004 Published by Elsevier B.V.
