Micropatterned environments in cell biology

Microfabrication and materials-science-based approaches provide a powerful new set of tools to control the spiritual organisation and temporal presentation of cellular cues. In this progress report, we highlight recent advances in the technological development and application of these tools to study how cells sense and respond to their microenvironment.
