Radiochemical studies relevant to Y-86 production via Sr-86(p,n)Y-86 for PET imaging

A novel production technique of yttrium-86 based on bombardment of deposited strontium carbonate was investigated. Y-86 was produced via proton-induced reactions on SrCO3 target that was prepared by the sedimentation method. Production yield of 0.37 mCi/mu Ah at 30 mu A was measured by means of gamma-ray spectrometry for natural target. The separation of Y-86/87/88 from Cu and Sr was carried out by two ion-exchange columns. (C) 2008 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
