The first North American records of Xylosandrus mutilatus (Blandford), an ambrosia beetle of Asian origin, are reponed from Mississippi and Florida. Data on the distribution, seasonality, and abundance of X. mutilatus in Mississippi are presented. A redescription and illustrations of X. mutilatus are provided, and its life history is reviewed.
